HiddenMeter legal
Privacy
HiddenMeter is built to be useful without asking for sensitive personal details. Most calculator inputs stay in your browser unless you choose to submit a vote, local price, share link, or email signup.
We may collect limited product events, vote choices, local price submissions, city, calculator type, and broad result metadata so we can improve benchmarks and understand what people use. We do not need names, legal details, medical details, relationship details, or exact income to run the public calculators.
Email updates are optional and separate from analytics consent. The signup form asks you to check an unchecked consent box, then confirm ownership using a link sent to your email. We save your email, selected interests, signup context, consent disclosure version, request and confirmation times, and subscription status privately. Previous interest-list entries without this confirmation are not automatically subscribed. Regular newsletter campaigns are not yet running.
Confirmation and newsletter emails include an unsubscribe link. Opening a link does not change your preference: press Unsubscribe on that page, or use your email provider’s one-click unsubscribe control when available. We retain a minimal suppression record so repeat signup requests cannot silently undo your opt-out. Rejoining requires a new email-owner confirmation. An email already accepted for delivery may still arrive. Contact contact@hiddenmeter.com for help with your preference or a deletion request.
Unsubscribe links contain a random, opt-out-only capability, not your email address. Treat them as private because anyone with an unsubscribe link can stop those updates. Human links use a browser fragment; the email-client one-click endpoint uses an opaque token in its URL, which may be recorded in hosting request logs. These preference pages do not load analytics or third-party scripts, and do not send referrer information. Confirmation links authorize only email updates, not an account login or access to other data.
Contact emails are received through Resend. The HiddenMeter team can read messages sent to our contact address to handle questions, feedback, and corrections. Do not email passwords, API keys, account numbers, personal documents, or other sensitive information.
When configured on the live HiddenMeter site, optional Google Analytics is off until you accept analytics. If accepted, Google receives page paths and a limited set of broad calculator interactions, category selections, and topic sharing or vote-confirmation actions, and may store analytics cookies and process browser, device, and network information. We do not send calculator inputs, result totals, city selections, email addresses, freeform submissions, or share-link query data to Google Analytics. Advertising consent and Google Signals are not enabled by this analytics integration. Topic events identify only an approved published topic and an action label; they do not include your entered amounts, share URL, or voting identifier. Read how Google uses information from sites that use its services (opens in a new tab).
For links from our own campaigns, Google Analytics may receive a fixed, approved source, medium, campaign name, and creative label after you opt in. We do not send arbitrary tracking tags, ad click identifiers, search text, or the full URL query. Campaign labels are not saved separately in your browser. If you leave the tagged page before opting in, that campaign may not be attributed.
Use the Analytics preferences button to change your choice at any time. Declining stops subsequent Google Analytics page views and custom events; it does not delete information already received by Google. We save this preference in your browser’s local storage, or keep it for the current page session if storage is unavailable. This choice does not change the separate first-party collection described above, email signups, voting, or other site features.
Topic voting uses a random browser cookie that expires after one year. We store a hash of that identifier with the topic you voted for and the vote time to limit repeat votes. The identifier is not shown publicly. Clearing cookies or using another browser can allow another vote, so guest counts are not counts of verified unique people.
Core calculator result snapshots share rounded figures, not your full inputs. Expanded calculator scenario links can include the exact values you entered in the URL. Anyone with the link can read those values and reopen the scenario. Do not share confidential or private personal information in scenario links, public captions, or local price notes. Edited editorial topic links also include every exact monthly cash amount in the URL. Scenario data in links is encoded, not encrypted; links may appear in browser history and website request logs. Topic links without edits open the original illustrative example.
